08 Nationals

OLYMPIC SPEED club got its new start in life in the summer of 2002, when Mike Snow took over as Head Coach.   We now host about 30 skaters: men and women, boys and girls, from the ages of 5 to 60+ years old, and ranging in skating ability from Beginner Speed Skaters to National Champions. (check out our profiles)   Our host rink, Olympic Skating Center is located in South Central PA, and our members come to us from York, Adams, Cumberland, Perry, and Dauphin Counties.  Members pay $35.00 per month dues, and non-members pay $5.00 per visit. Click here to check out our Practice Schedule.  If you would like to join in on one of our practices,  Contact Olympic Speed

Great job to everyone who skated in this years Regional Championships .....  The BEST race of the day, was the Senior 4 Man - - our (A) team fell on the 2nd tag, they
were about 1/2 lap behind, not only did the catch up to the lead pack, they lead the race for a lap or 2 ....   that was some AWESOME Racing, not to mention our
(B) in the Senior 4 Man also qualified for Nationals

USA/RS...

Our national governing body is USA Roller Sports.  USA/RS divides the US into 9 competitive regions.  Olympic Speed is a part of the Eastern Region (PA, NJ, & DE).  The Eastern region's is lucky to have the Keystone Speed League.  This indoor Speed League's season runs Oct through May, with about one league meet per month.  Skaters build points for their placements at each meet. At the season's end, trophies & prizes are awarded the top 3 to 5 skaters in each division.  The indoor season climaxes with the Eastern Regional Championship (and qualifying) in May or June, and Finally our National Championship Event in July.  The 2009 USARS National Championship will be held in Peoria IL.

The International Federation of Roller Sports showed five videos presented by FIRS President, Mr Aracu, FIRS Secretary General Mr Marotta, and by the 18 time Roller Speed Skating World Champion, Derek Parra.
